Despite being involved in a high-intensity international armed conflict, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has issued a voluntary report on the domestic implementation of the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC). The report includes examples of the implementation of LOAC at the national level and its practical observance on the battlefield. This is the first time the entire system of implementation, application and dissemination of knowledge about LOAC in the Ukrainian MoD system is openly demonstrated.
As a staunch supporter of the Law of Armed Conflict for many years, Norway was chosen by Ukraine as one of the first countries in which the report is presented to a wider audience. The Norwegian Ministry of Defence and the Embassy of Ukraine looks forward to welcoming interested participants to Fanehallen at Akershus Fortress on 23 January for a presentation of the report by the Ukrainian MoD, followed by a Q&A session.
